A man aged 20 from Zwide was arrested during the early hours of this morning, 30 March 2022 after a search warrant was executed at his house in Makata Street.
It is alleged that at about 02:45, Anti-Gang Unit and Public Order Policing members received and acted on information about drugs and firearms at the house. During the search, a 9mm firearm and 15 rounds of ammunition were found in the bedroom hidden under a suitcase. The suspect was arrested on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
He is expected to appear in the New Brighton Magistrate Court soon.
