Several suspects arrested on drug-related charges

Concerted efforts to uproot the illegal drug trade in the Western Cape led to the arrest of several suspects between the ages of 27 and 45, when an intelligence-driven operation was conducted by Lockdown ii forces, Crime Intelligence, K9 unit, Bishop Lavis SAPS, and the National Intervention Unit in the Bishop Lavis area on Monday, 6 December 2021.

Search warrants were executed at identified premises and drugs such as cocaine, mandrax, crystal meth, heroin, dagga, and undisclosed amounts of cash were confiscated. The estimated street value of the drugs is about R80 000.

Once charged the suspects will make court appearances in Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ court on drug-related charges.

In an unrelated matter, Delft police arrested a 44-year-old male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Freedom Farm Leiden Delft yesterday. The members received information about a firearm at a house and followed up on the information. The premises were searched and a 9mm Norinco pistol with ammunition was recovered.

Once charged the suspect will appear in Bellville Magistrates’ court on Thursday 9 December 2021.
