Gauteng police continues to make inroads in arresting drug dealers and seizure of drugs in the province

Police in Gauteng continues to make inroads in the fight against the proliferation of drugs as they discover a drug lab in Tshwane and seize different kinds of drugs around the province.

An intelligence-driven operation led to the discovery of a drug laboratory and the arrest of two suspects in Kameeldrift, Tshwane, on Wednesday 22 December 2021. Drugs that include cocaine and dagga were confiscated together with suspected stolen property. One of the suspects allegedly offered the police officers some cash for the release of the suspect found at the premises. Both suspects were arrested and charged with manufacturing of drugs, possession of drugs, possession of suspected stolen property, and bribery.

In Eldorado Park, Johannesburg District, police from K9 arrested a man after he was found with drugs that includes heroin, mandrax, ziplocks and crystalmeth. Police received information about a man that is dealing drugs in Eldorado Park. A search warrant was obtained and executed. Upon searching the house, police found different kinds of drugs ready to be sold. The suspect is expected to appear at Lenasia Magistrates Court in due course.

Two suspects were arrested in different places in Sophiatown for dealing and possession of drugs. Police officers from Crime Intelligence received information about a man that is dealing drugs and members from K9 operationalised the information and pounced on the suspect at Sophiatown. He was found with drugs that include mandrax and ziplocks. Further information led the police to another house in Sophiatown where the second suspect was arrested after he was also found with mandrax.

Provincial Commissioner of the police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, appreciates the sterling work done by members of Crime Intelligence, K9, and other units of the police as they continue to make inroads in the arrest of drug dealers and remove drugs off the streets of Gauteng.

“I am pleased with the collaboration between different units of the police and the information that we receive from the community members. We remain committed and we will continue with the fight against the scourge of drug abuse and ensure that those who sell the drugs to our community, especially the youth, are identified and brought to book,” said Lieutenant General Elias Mawela.
