Nyanga detectives arrest teenager for murder of Lonwabo Jack

The dedication by members attached to Nyanga detectives led to the arrest of a 17-year-old suspect for the murder of 22-year-old Lonwabo Jack. On Sunday morning police were called out to Pula Road in Mau-Mau, Nyanga where the body of the victim was found with a stab wound to the chest. The deceased was later identified by a relative.

After a search that took the Nyanga detectives from location to location, the suspect was apprehended early this morning in the Eerste River area. He is expected to appear in Athlone Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged for murder.

In a separate incident a 30-year-old suspect is due in Athlone Magistrates’ Court today after being arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Monday afternoon. The members were on patrol performing routine duties when they received a tip-off about suspected robbers who were driving in a vehicle in Mazizini Street in Browns Farm. The members spotted the vehicle and pounced on the suspect. Another 20-year-old suspect is also appearing in Philippi Magistrates’ Court following his arrest yesterday for possession of an imitation firearm.

The Western Cape SAPS management commended the members for their dedication and the community for the role they are playing in the fight against crime.
