Introduction to the Eastern Cape Transport Tertiary Cooperative based in East London, Eastern Cape.

It gives me great pleasure to introduce the Eastern Cape Transport Tertiary Cooperative based in East London, Eastern Cape.

Using the concept of a unified Public Transport Industry as a blueprint, Eastern Cape Transport Tertiary Co-operative Limited (ECTTC), a 100 % black co-operative, was registered in 2014.

It has 184 (One hundred and sixty four) registered member primary co-operatives and 20 (Eleven) secondary co-operatives operating at district & Metro level. ECTTC membership consists of primary co-operatives who operate public transport services as their core business and some that have in-house transport services.

ECTTC reports to an appointed Board of Directors representing the membership of the various co-operatives from the taxi, bus and bakkie councils and their associations.

Vision for the future of the Transport Industry:

“To become a self-sustaining industry which is a leader in mass transportation service, moving all South Africans in a continuously improving transport service that is affordable, safe and reliable.” Within the context of this vision the mission is-

i) To provide excellent service to all our customers.
ii) To empower operators through the maximization of development and economic opportunities.
iii) To develop strategic partnerships and maintain the stability and profitability within the transport sector.

We wish to do a public launch for the coop and innovative systems (such as cashless customer payments, an integrated fuel payment/rewards program and a tyre rebate system.

We believe we will be able to carry forward your vision of a formalized, transformed, compliant and safe public transport system.
