At approximately 02:30, police from the local police station was conducting routine patrols when they observed a suspicious red Toyota Quantum with two occupants.
The members stopped the vehicle and upon their search of the vehicle two illegal firearms and 10 goats were recovered in the vehicle. The suspects led the police to their accomplices, where another 10 goats and 10 sheep were recovered.
Upon their arrival, three suspects noticed that their friends are companied by the police, and they started to open fire at the police. Police returned fire and one suspect was shot and killed and one police officer was injured and taken to hospital; he is in a stable condition.
Police have launched a search for the suspects that evaded arrest while an investigation is underway to establish if the arrested suspect and the weapons could be linked to other crimes.
