Four suspects arrested after robbery at residence in Clermont, KZN

In the early hours of 21 May 2020, Pinetown detectives conducted an operation, searching for robbery suspects. Four males aged between 17 and 24 were arrested at Clermont.

On 09 May 2020, a 58-year-old male was allegedly accosted by five males in his home on Circle Drive in Wyebank who robbed him of cellphones, cash and car keys at knifepoint. They fled the scene on foot. A case of house robbery was opened at Pinetown police station for investigation. An extensive police investigation was conducted which led to the arrest of a 30-year-old suspect two days after the robbery. He was charged and he appeared in the Pinetown Magistrates Court on 15 May 2020. The suspect was also linked to a case of theft out of motor vehicle which occurred two days prior the robbery where two batteries, car radio and bank cards were stolen.

These four suspects will be joining their co-accused and they will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on 22 May 2020. A 17-year-old was released onto the parent’s custody. They will also be profiled to determine if they can be linked to other robbery cases in the area.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula praised the investigating officers for their persistence to solve the case.
