South African Police Service in Thohoyandou have conducted an engagement session with the community of Shayandima location focusing on various crimes most prevelant in the area.
This session was held at Shayandima soccer ground yesterday, 20 October 2018 from 14:45 until 18:00.
This initiative was led by the Thohoyandou Cluster Commander, Major General Rosinah Mulaudzi accompanied by the Thohoyandou Acting Station Commander Colonel Mashamba, Sector two Commander Captain Tshishonga, Social crime Commander Captain Gabeni, Vispol support Captain Tshikukuvhe and Communication officer Sergeant Dathi.
About 350 community members attended the engagement session. The Cluster Commander indicated that communities must partner with police in the fight against crime, as in most cases criminals are staying within our communities. Community members were urged to report criminal activities anonymously to their local police. The Cluster Commander also vowed to increase police visibility through street patrols with the assistance from neighbourhood watch structures while members of the community was also sensitized to improve security at their homes. Members of the community were further encouraged to come straight to the Cluster Commander’s office if they are not satisfied with the police’s services in the area.
Members of the community were given the opportunity to raise various concerns relating to crime and questions were also being answered during the engagement session. They were also advised to telephonically seek the assistance of the police so that they can came to their homes instead for assistance. #RuralSafety #CrimePrevention#PartnershipPolicing
