Three suspects are expected to appear in the Philippi Magistrates’ on Monday 30 July 2018.
A 27-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm: a 9mm short; and six rounds of ammunition; as well as a suspected stolen cellphone, which was also found in his possession. The suspect was arrested on Thursday, 26 July 2018, after the police received valuable information from the community about the suspect being in possession of the unlicensed firearm.
In another incident on Wednesday 25 July 2018, Guguletu police arrested two men, aged 22 and 26 years old, for being in possession of drugs at Ny 24 in Guguletu. A substantial amount of drugs, including mandrax tablets and mandrax powder, were confiscated.
The suspects will appear at the Philippi Court, once charged.
The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the members for ensuring that the Gugulethu community is safe.
