Vanderbijlpark: 1 Killed, 1 critically injured and airlifted following collision with tree.

At approximately 00h10 on Sunday 16 July 2017, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a very serious collision on Rosinni boulevard in Vanderbijlpark.

Reports from the scene indicate that the car left the road and collided with a tree. There were two male occupants in the car, both were 21 years of age. The incident and preceding events will form part of a police investigation.

The driver had sustained severe injuries, tragically there was nothing that paramedics could do for him as he had died prior to their arrival. Documentation pertaining to his death was completed by Netcare 911 and handed over to authorities at the scene.

The passenger was in a critical condition. Fire Fighters were called upon to use the “Jaws of Life” to access and free him from the wreck. He was attended to by an Advanced Life Support paramedic and placed on a ventilator at the scene. The Netcare 911 specialised helicopter ambulance was called to the scene while the victim was still trapped in the wreck. He was later airlifter to a Johannesburg hospital for the urgent medical care that he required.

The police also attended the incident.
