A man has died while a female sustained critical injuries after they were struck by a car on the N2 near the construction site at Umgeni Road this morning. Reports indicate that the two workers ran across the road to get to their work site when the landed in front of a car at around 07h00 this morning.
Netcare 911 paramedics and the emergency services arrived at the scene and found the two patients lying in the slow lane of the highway about five meters apart, the wreckage of the car had come to a stop about 20 meters further back from the injured.
After triaging the patients it was found that the one patient a man in his thirties had tragically died due to the extensive injuries that he sustained. The female also in her thirties sustained critical injuries, after she was stabelised on scene; paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital for the care that she required.
