Four injured in R27 head on collision

Four people sustained various injuries this morning following a head on collision between a bakkie and a passenger vehicle on the R27 in Big Bay.

The cause of the collision is unclear, but the bakkie had collided head on with a Toyota passenger vehicle. ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene to find a total of four people in need of medical attention, one from the Toyota and three from the bakkie. The bakkie was transporting workers on the load bed at the time of the collision.

Various services treated the patients at the scene for injuries ranging from suspected back and neck injuries, various cuts and bruises to various broken bones. All the patients were later transported to various hospitals by various ambulance services.

Local law enforcement officials attended the collision and will be investigating the cause of the collision further.
