Truck collides on N12 causing bakkie to overturn and lose its cargo

This morning (13 July) at approximately 09:30, a truck travelling on the N12 west near the R24 merge appeared to have mechanical problems and the truck driver lost control of the vehicle as it collided with the center barrier and then veered back across the highway into the fence of a business park alongside the N12.

“A bakkie transporting retail food goods was also involved in the accident and overturned trying to avoid colliding with the truck. It lost its cargo on the highway,” reports Terence Teixeira from the Matrix Road Safety Association who arrived at the scene.

The Ekhuruleni Emergency Services and First Road Towing worked together at the scene to promptly remove the damaged goods and get the flow of traffic back in order.

The Matrix Road Safety Association vehicle was on scene providing scene safety and the on-board Emer-G-Med medic assisted fellow Emer-G-Med ambulance crew to treat the injured.

“Fortunately the drivers and passengers from both the truck and the bakkie sustained only mild injuries and were transported to hospital by Emer-G-Med and provincial emergency services,” says Teixeira.
