Some excellent driving skill from a heavy goods truck driver saved the lives of several people on the Voortrekker road bridge where it crosses the N12 this afternoon. The truck was traveling along Voortrekker road approaching the intersection to the N12. Cars in front of him had stopped at the traffic lights and when the driver tried to stop he found that his brakes failed.
The truck driver tried to negotiate his way between the cars but smashed into the sides of four vehicles violently flinging them sideways. Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene and were amazed that no persons were injured in this accident.
The roadway however remained obstructed for more than 2 hours while all the damaged vehicles were removed by the towing services.
