A buddy can prevent drunk driving when going Out!

Insurance members can enjoy themselves responsibly with OUTsurance’s new chauffeur service!

Leading Southern African direct short-term insurance company, OUTsurance, has launched ‘Buddy@OUT’, a chauffeur service that provides members with a convenient alternative to drinking and driving: their own personal driver.

Registered insurance clients simply phone the service and are driven home safely in their own OUTsured vehicle. The Buddy@OUT driver is then collected by support staff.

“We are delighted to offer this service to our insurance customers,” enthuses Peter Cronje, Head of Marketing for OUTsurance, “as it’s an excellent way of avoiding the hassle of having to leave your vehicle and return to fetch it the next day.

Insurance coupled with prevention

But more than this it’s a way for an insurance company to make a difference. Given the poor record South Africa has when it comes to driving under the influence, we’re also hoping that Buddy@OUT will help trigger a change in the general attitude towards drinking and driving.”

OUTsurance believes that prevention is better than having to use your insurance. “Driving under the influence is a significant contributing factor to the loss of life on South African roads. That’s why we consider Buddy@OUT to be such an important service,” explains Cronje. “It will not only help members avoid the grave charges associated with serious accidents and loss of life, but it’s also an easy, convenient way of avoiding fines and arrest, as well as the risk of not having a claim honoured.” The accident rate is also a contributor to insurance costs across the industry, so an initiative like this should help to keep insurance premiums down in the long term.

Subsidised for insurance clients

Supported by Good Fellas, Buddy@OUT is subsidised for OUTsurance insurance holders. “We want to make this service attractive and affordable,” confirms Cronje, “so we’re offering members a 70% discount on their monthly subscription fee, reducing it to just R20 a month. The usual rate-per-kilometre for trips will apply, but it is still cheaper than standard taxi fares.”

OUTsurance has made the service as flexible as possible. “Clients are not locked into the usual 12-month contracts and can sign up for just the months they require it,” explains Cronje. “If they find they have a certain period in the year that is full of festive cheer, they can opt to have the service for that time only.”

Further information about the Buddy@OUT chauffeur service can be obtained by accessing the Buddy@OUT brochure on the insurance company’s website at www.outsurance.co.za or by contacting the company directly on 08600 60 000.
