Limpopo: FollowIng the closure of the Provincial road, R101 between the Carousel and Pienaarsrivier yesterday, the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has this morning visited the area to assess the situation for any possible safety risks to our communities.
After an in-loco inspection of the affected area by the Provincial Commissioner, including the bridge and the nearby houses as well as reports of availability of crocodiles, the following can now be confirmed:
• The R101 road is now opened for traffic and the situation is also back to normal with no threat at all to our communities.
• The bridge at Pienaarsrivier that was yesterday flooded, in now traversable; the water has subsided and motorists are able to pass over without any hindrance.
• As the water has subsided and is flowing under the bridge, no crocodiles could be noticed in the area adjacent to the bridge.
“I am satisfied by the interventions that were made by all relevant stakeholder when reports of the flooding surfaced yesterday,” said Lt General Ledwaba.
“After visiting this area, I’m now satisfied that the area is now back to normal and people may now lead their normal lives, including the usage of the R101 road,” he concluded.
