Have you ever travelled by bus -not the school bus – but a luxury bus on a long journey? What advice would have made your trip more comfortable? I did this often as a student travelling the 740km between Bloemfontein and Oudtshoorn. This was however several years ago when many of these buses did not provide all the comforts that they do today! Bus services have made significant strides in providing both safety and comfort and we would like to take a closer look at some of these!
On the Arrive Alive website we find rather comprehensive section with a Guide to Safety for Bus Passengers. This offers information to enhance the safety of commuters from approaching the bus to where they disembark the Bus. For a more interesting angle we have however decided to approach a regular passenger on one of the Intercape buses with a few questions to share some light on what really matters for the passenger!
- Would you regard yourself as a regular bus passenger – any idea how many road trips you have undertaken by bus?
- Which route have you travelled most by bus?
- Rate the following in sequence of importance when you decide on a specific bus service
- Do you take all these factors into consideration before booking a specific bus service?
- Which other factors do you consider as important?
- How do you go about making a booking? Do you call, go to a bus centre or do you go online to make a booking?
- What is the best advice you would have for the novice bus traveller?
- Any specific recommendations for a long distance trip as to a much shorter trip?
- What can passengers do to ensure that others around them are also comfortable – do you believe that fellow passengers are considerate to one another?
- What would you regard as inconsiderate behaviour from passengers?
- What have you seen Intercape do to ensure that passengers are comfortable?
- What is it about Intercape that motivates you to book another trip with them?
