Insurance members can enjoy themselves responsibly with OUTsurance’s new chauffeur service!
Leading Southern African direct short-term insurance company, OUTsurance, has launched ‘Buddy@OUT’, a chauffeur service that provides members with a convenient alternative to drinking and driving: their own personal driver.
Registered insurance clients simply phone the service and are driven home safely in their own OUTsured vehicle. The Buddy@OUT driver is then collected by support staff.
“We are delighted to offer this service to our insurance customers,” enthuses Peter Cronje, Head of Marketing for OUTsurance, “as it’s an excellent way of avoiding the hassle of having to leave your vehicle and return to fetch it the next day.
Insurance coupled with prevention
But more than this it’s a way for an insurance company to make a difference. Given the poor record South Africa has when it comes to driving under the influence, we’re also hoping that Buddy@OUT will help trigger a change in the general attitude towards drinking and driving.”
OUTsurance believes that prevention is better than having to use your insurance. “Driving under the influence is a significant contributing factor to the loss of life on South African roads. That’s why we consider Buddy@OUT to be such an important service,” explains Cronje. “It will not only help members avoid the grave charges associated with serious accidents and loss of life, but it’s also an easy, convenient way of avoiding fines and arrest, as well as the risk of not having a claim honoured.” The accident rate is also a contributor to insurance costs across the industry, so an initiative like this should help to keep insurance premiums down in the long term.
Subsidised for insurance clients
Supported by Good Fellas, Buddy@OUT is subsidised for OUTsurance insurance holders. “We want to make this service attractive and affordable,” confirms Cronje, “so we’re offering members a 70% discount on their monthly subscription fee, reducing it to just R20 a month. The usual rate-per-kilometre for trips will apply, but it is still cheaper than standard taxi fares.”
OUTsurance has made the service as flexible as possible. “Clients are not locked into the usual 12-month contracts and can sign up for just the months they require it,” explains Cronje. “If they find they have a certain period in the year that is full of festive cheer, they can opt to have the service for that time only.”
Further information about the Buddy@OUT chauffeur service can be obtained by accessing the Buddy@OUT brochure on the insurance company’s website at www.outsurance.co.za or by contacting the company directly on 08600 60 000.

THIRTEEN YEAR OLD NAMED NATIONAL SPOKESPERSON FOR NATIONAL DRUNK DRIVING AWARENESS CAMPAIGN.
What Becca Levy lacks in years she more than makes up for with heart. The 13-year-old Washington D.C. native has just entered her teens but has already had her fill of the drunk driving accidents that kill thousands each year.
“Did you know that every 32 minutes, a person dies is a drunk driving accident in America? When I learned this, I realized that this was something I wanted to do something about–and the best way was through music. It’s a language that all young people speak.” With that resolve behind her, Becca could not be happier about being named National Spokesperson for the Stop Drunk Driving Now Kid’s Saving Kid’s CD Campaign. The campaign marks the first time that talented young musicians from across America will work together to us their music to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence.
Here’s how it will work:
A total of 30 artists will appear on a digitally distributed CD, and the music of these talented young people will be available for free downloading by anyone in America. When people visit the page to hear the music, they will see a host of messages–designed by high school and college students–about the brutal costs of drunk driving and prevention messages.
Ronald Bellanti, president of Boston-based Illumina Records AND … put something here about his interest in drunk driving prevention conceived the idea. “This is another weapon in our drunk driving prevention arsenal,” said he said. “The earlier we start kids thinking about not getting behind the wheel drunk the better.”And that is exactly what the Kids Saving Kids Campaign will do. The artists that appear on the CD will all be under the age of 18. That means that the music will not only be created by young artists but geared to young listeners–the very people we need to start soaking in these messages.
The uniqueness of this opportunity is not lost on the artists. “What better way to use my music than to save other kids’ lives? Drunk driving affects everyone regardless of his or her age. I hope you will join me in this fight. Together we can all make a difference,” Becca said.
To submit your music for consideration you must submit a MP3 or a WAV file of ONE of your songs. Also include your age, hometown, and YOUR PARENTS’ contact information. You can submit your music at: ksksubmit@stopddnow.com
