Ever felt that feeling where your stomach sits in your throat as you see a traffic officer waving you to the side of the road?
Sometimes it does not have to be you – even if it happens to the vehicle in front of you, you experience that same uncomfortable feeling!
Yesterday I received a traffic fine in the post…I had no idea that this fine would again be in the Hanover area…the same area I have received speeding fines in the past. My fine is one of R200 and the fine stipulates that I drove 131km/h in a 120km/h zone.
The bad part is that I am well aware of traffic cops on this stretch of road and tried to keep my speed less than the speed limit PLUS 10%. Without speed control you often exceed the limit by a small percentage…and some leniency is often provided for this. It appears that at 129km/h I might have evaded the fine!!
Unfortunately it does not help to complain…I have ended up on the wrong side of the law! The fact that many non-roadworthy vehicles and unlicensed drivers might have passed the speed cameras is of no defense to me…
I would simply have to be a little bit more afraid next time..and a bit lighter on the accelerator ….

Getting Traffic Fines Withdrawn
Did you know most fines issued are not valid due to various technicalities that the traffic department wishes you don’t find out about?
In fact there are so many that when you know them it is almost impossible to find a fine that doesn’t have a flaw.
